EastLink Freeway Tunnel

Project Details

Project: EastLink Freeway Tunnel
Client: Thiess John Holland JV
Location: Melbourne, VIC

The Eastlink Freeway is a toll road in Melbourne Victoria and is still one of the largest single road infrastructure projects completed in Australia. The Thiess John Holland Joint Venture (TJHJV) were successful in 2005 with the RfP process and were responsible for the delivery of the twin 1.6km tunnels, though challenging geological and hydrogeological conditions.

The Skarpa personnel were involved in an important part of the programme, assisting with formed and tanked concrete lining. In addition, the project involved construction of about 45 kms of freeway-standard road connecting Melbourne’s eastern and south-eastern suburbs between the existing Eastern Freeway at Donvale and the Frankston Freeway on the Morning Peninsula.
